Open Meetings
Local Coverage Determinations (LCD) Development
(Reference: Program Memorandum
Transmittal AB-00-116)
In order to ensure that the development
of LCD occurs through a public and open process, Louisiana Medicare
Services invites submission of information from members of the general
public. Louisiana Medicare Services permits interested parties to
submit scientific, evidence-based information, professional consensus
opinions, or any other relevant information regarding Draft LCDs.
Open meetings will be held prior to the presentation of these policies
at the Contractor Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting. The Contractor
Medical Director (CMD) will allow interested parties (generally those
that would be affected by the LCD, including providers, physicians,
vendors, manufactures, beneficiaries, or their caretakers) to make
presentations of information related to draft policies. If time and
space are insufficient to accommodate all who wish to speak, the
contractor will accept written (or e-mail) comments and give them full
and equal consideration as if presented at the meeting. Members of the
CAC may attend these public meetings.

According to PIM Chapter 13.7.4.1 (D), the
Draft LCD Open Meeting is required for the purpose of discussing
draft LCDs. Due to the planned conversion of Local Medicare
Contractors to Medicare Administrative Contractors (MAC), the
Carrier is not presenting any draft LCDs for discussion in
January. Therefore this meeting is not required.
Please utilize the
Reconsideration Process for
dissemination of information relative to any final LCDs that are
currently active. If anyone has additional LCD issues that
may warrant an Open Meeting, please utilize the ' Contact Us
' feature on our website providing specific information
relative to your concern and we will respond accordingly. In the unforeseable event that these dates or
times have to be altered in any way, any changes will be posted
by the first of each meeting month. The only exceptions to this
will be inclement weather conditions and this will be posted as
soon as it is available. |
Directions:
Bon Carre' is located on the corner of Florida Boulevard and
Lobdell Avenue. Parking is available in the back parking lot off of
Lobdell. There is a breezeway located next to the Convergys building
and we are located in the suite for Pinnacle Business Solutions Inc.
directly in front of the breezeway entry.

The policies to be discussed at the meeting are available for
review through the
Draft Policy
section
of our web site.
Attendance
All members of the public are invited to attend the open meeting
as observers. However, pre-registration is required for all
participants and observers due to limited seating. This can be
done by notifying Medicare Services.
This will enable the Carrier to contact you individually if there are
any emergency changes.
Requests to Present Information
Interested parties, who wish to
make presentations of scientific evidence and other scientific-based
information related to the draft policies, must
notify Medicare Services and
RSVP notification of intent to attend must include:
Name, address, telephone number, fax number, e-mail address, and
company affiliation
Name of policy which you wish to address
Registration must be received in our office no later than 3
business days prior to the meeting you wish to attend.
Presentations will be limited to 10 minutes each. It is the
presenter’s responsibility to provide any audio-visual support
necessary for the presentation. Presentations may be summarized by
Medicare Services. A summary of all comments received will be posted
in Draft LCD Section at the end of the
comment period.
In addition, presenters must provide fifty (50) copies of an
executive summary of the information they plan on presenting, fifty
(50) copies of the presentation and handouts they plan to share, and
have considered by the full Carrier Advisory Committee.
